Hype vs. Truth
At JustMyDj.com our approach to DJ entertainment has always been rooted in our hearts. Because each event has its own character and style your DJ should also have a style that personalize each performance uniquely difference.
We believe in capturing the individuality of our clients; as well as, their families, friends and guest. We start each event with a clean slate that's not from a routine repeated over and over.
I Integrity, trust ,loyalty and commitment is the foundation of our business
Some of what you read on DJ websites were DJ companies promoting themselves, DJ equipment, lighting and music collection. Although these are three important factors it's pretty basic; most DJ accomplish these three factors easily; so I won't waste time talking about that information.
You don’t need those extra
speakers. Unless you’re having your event inside a concert hall or outside paying for extra speakers is a waste of money.
Are
song list a good or bad ideal ? About 60 to 75 songs will provide 5 hours of music. You’re not going to hear 10,000 songs. About 10 of your guests may request a song from the DJ; it doesn't matter how large the DJ music collection is he/she may not have the song.
If known before the event date they can arrange to purchase it. I’ve lend music to DJ's performing in other banquet rooms. The songs were common.
A few DJ companies will push for you to create a song list, it’s helpful and may take pressure off the DJ to actually think. If your song list doesn’t appeal to your guest it’s not the DJ fault; they can blame the song list you created.
Having 10,000 titles is great for a DJ and it's kind of basic. However if they can’t think of what to add to your song list (if necessary) to get your guests on the dance floor what good is having 10,000 titles ? Websites I’ve visits mostly push the top 100 or 200 of their requested songs. For these type of Disc Jockeys it's a routine. Eventually they lose their individuality and so does the party.
There are party songs that continually past the test of time and great to hear at parties but should they be heard at every party you attend because the DJ says so?
Creating a list is great but leave the DJ some room. Having 50 % of your must play songs on a list is fine but let the DJ express a little originality.
A competent DJ will skillfully fill in the gaps with plenty of music from the categories you selected.
A DJ that doesn’t have the knowledge to wear a tux at a wedding reception or other formal event has no knowledge of class.
So why do some website brag about proper attire, I guess it’s just to fill web pages. If you don't see it printed on the DJ website you can always ask or request it. A good DJ knows a Tux is very necessary; it's basic!
Is having a
separate DJ and MC better? Think you’re getting both for the price of one; think again that’s not happening. How much is that extra person costing you?
Having a DJ and a MC is great for the DJ but really not necessary for some events. Ask companies that make it a selling point if the price can be reduced for only the DJ.
What about testimony and references on DJ
website? We believe anything worth saying is worth putting in writing (the client’s writing) not typed into a website.
The thought of potential clients constantly contacting our past or current clients because we provided DJ services for their event in my opinion would be rude and disrespectful. Clients should not become personal sales agents.
We have written reviews and signed contracts by actual clients.
Believe me
your guest will remember more then just the DJ at your event. If the DJ, food, venue arrangement is bad or even your ceremony your guest will remember. Music will not make them forget about the things they didn’t like about your event.
Remember not everyone came to dance and not everyone dances. So what’s more important to your guess food, music, comfort, liquor? If its food music doesn’t matter if it’s music then food doesn’t matter if its liquor then comfort doesn’t matter.
Think about what you read on DJ sights that put music at the top of their list for having a wonderful event.
Most will you it for a sells pitch. They need you to think that unless you spend large sums of money on “their DJ” your party is dead on arrival.
That’s simply not true. Being a DJ is not that complicated it does require you to have an outgoing personality, a clear speaking voice and a better then average knowledge of different music and styles.
A DJ should have a pleasant appearance and grooming.
What about those companies that encourage you to attend
one of their events? They encourage you to come see them perform at an event; at the same time they warn you not to grade them on the performance or the music because it was all arrange by the client. So what’s the point if they blame the client for everything you don’t like about the event?
Personnel I don’t believe it’s a good ideal to invite uninvited guess to someone else special event. Call me over protective but I wouldn’t want to be the source who invited a guess that may cause a problem.
Anything is possible I’m not willing to take a chance and being responsible for someone causing trouble just to make a sell.
If my
appearance, presentation, experience and service doesn’t qualify me for Just
Your Dj it’s ok you can't win them all.
They say you get what you pay for? The same is true with DJ companies; the big Dj Company will charge you more and you will get what you paid for; or do you? Big DJ companies have:
Small to medium size DJ company:
Get what you pay for but don’t overpay in the process of getting what you want. Any knowledgeable business man or investor will share the same advice.
